Summer Playlist

I’m a total music nerd and spend most of my life either playing or listening to music. I love making playlists and that sort of thing, so I thought I’d share my summer playlist.

It isn’t made up of new songs… or lots of well known artists, but I find it gets me in a summery mood and therefore thought that it would be fun to share with you…

The Science Museum (Summer Through Snapchat)

A couple of days ago, I decided to go on another adventure, this time to the Science Museum in South Kensington. I’m a pretty rubbish Londoner who doesn’t really fully embrace the city I live in, so I thought this would be a good way to soak up some culture and maybe even find something interesting to mention on the UCAS personal statement.

Yet again, I took my blog along with me via snapchat…

Off To Uni #2: Open Days

Well holy moly I’ve had a busy month. Pretty much every weekend I’ve been off to all corners of England, trying to work out where the hell I want to go when I’ve finished my A levels, and therefore I thought it was time for another instalment in my ‘Off To Uni’ series. You can read the first one here

off to uni #2

First things first, I have some tips for anyone going to open days because they were definitely not what I expected them to be…

  1. Take whatever approach to the open day you like. My family are quite extra so we tried to make a point of seeing as much as we could, while many of my friends only stayed at the universities for half the time we did. Make of the day what you will.
  2. Make notes when you get home. All the open days start blurring into one very quickly, so having some points of reference will really help you when it comes to going back and working out which one you actually want to go to.
  3. Prepare to be tired. Your feet will hurt. You will walk a lot. Wear comfy shoes and don’t expect to spend the whole day just relaxing because some of these campuses/cities are big.
  4. Don’t bring too much stuff with you. I made the mistake of bringing a full water bottle, my whole purse, a book incase I got bored and a whole host of other stuff. YOU DON’T NEED IT. Most universities give out bags on their open days, most will also give out water bottles. Just bring some cash and your phone to make notes on and take pictures with and really that’s all you need. (I do recommend bringing their prospectus if you want something to read on the journey though – remind yourself why you’re at the open day to begin with).
  5. Soak up the atmosphere. Don’t just run around visiting places (I’m a hypocrite?). Stay still for a little bit and try to picture yourself studying there. If you find it hard, it might not be the right university for you.

Now that’s out of the way, here are my findings of the universities I’ve visited so far…

Music Favourites **

So anyone that knows me knows that I am a massive music lover. My music collection is a bit ridiculous and my room is filled to bursting with instruments: 5 guitars, an electric piano, a ukulele and a saxophone (that is still very much a work in progress).

My other musical passions include song writing and production – two things that I am exceptionally bad at – so I thought I could share a couple of cool music brands with you that aid me while I attempt to improve my music building skills.

The brands I’m working with are… and

Oh Wonder Signing (Summer Through Snapchat)

Today I did something out of my comfort zone. It was so far out of my zone of comfort that I couldn’t even seen the zone perimeters anymore… I went to a concert on my own.

I got on the tube, went to Oxford Street and went to see one of my favourite bands, Oh Wonder, play an acoustic set before getting their new album signed… ON MY OWN.

I needed a way to keep my anxiety at bay while I was there, so decided a fun way to do it would be to document my gallivanting through snapchat, so that I would be able to share it here later. I think I’ll do this with other fun things I do this holiday – make it a little series – as I found so enjoyable and relaxing and it’s photography without worrying about the definitive quality of the pictures because they’re telling a story. Here we go…

Beauty Haul // July 2017

I’m a sucker for makeup. Like a serious addict. Luckily, I have a fair bit of self-control so I will only buy stuff when there’s a deal and will never really spend more than £20 in one swoop. Superdrug have been on 3 for 2 (my ultimate weakness) and did just a little bit of shopping. Here are my picks…

I am a base addict. I’m always looking for something that will make my terrible teenage face look presentable so I picked the Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer in 010 Ivory. I’ve had this before, but in a shade that’s too dark for me most of the time, so got a lighter one from my pastey English skin. I really like this concealer, especially for under the eyes, but I’m still finding it to be a little too dark, though thanks to my slight summer tan I can work with it.

Summer Goals 2017

I love reading the lists of things people want to achieve. I find it so inspiring to see what others want to do and how they want to better themselves – it also helps to remind me that I’m probably the single most boring human being that’s ever lived, so that’s also something.

Either way, I want to pretend to be one of those people who I look up to so much for a while and hence… Summer Goals!

I made one of these last year  (I think?) and just didn’t do anything from the list, but this year I think I’ve made it a bit more achievable (hopefully) so I should be able to cross off at least a couple of the things before the end of summer. Here we go…
